Privacy Policy

Overview

R·iving is a location-based alarm app for transit commuters. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data R·iving collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

Location Data

R·iving uses your device's GPS to monitor geofence regions and trigger alarms when you approach your destination. Location data is processed entirely on your device and is not sent to our servers. We do not have servers.

Alarm Data

Your alarm names, coordinates, and settings are stored locally on your device using iOS secure storage. This data never leaves your device.

Search Queries

When you search for a destination, your search query and approximate location are sent to:

• OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) for place search
• OpenStreetMap Overpass API (overpass-api.de) for finding nearby transit stops

These are public, open-source services operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. We do not control their data practices. No personal identifiers are sent with these requests.

Advertising and Third-Party Tracking

R·iving displays advertisements through Google AdMob, a third-party advertising network. To serve relevant ads, AdMob collects and processes the following data, which is shared with third-party advertising partners but is not linked to your personal identity:

• Device Identifiers (such as the Identifier for Advertisers / IDFA) used to measure ad impressions and frequency
• Advertising Data including ad interactions, clicks, and delivery information

This data is used for third-party advertising purposes. When you first launch R·iving, iOS will ask whether you allow the app to track you across other companies' apps and websites. You can decline, and the app will still work normally, but ads may be less relevant.

You can review and manage your ad personalization settings at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and in your Google Ads settings at adssettings.google.com.

Removing Ads

In future versions, an optional one-time in-app purchase will remove all advertisements, which also stops any ad-related data collection from your device.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personal information
• We do not create user accounts
• We do not track your location history on any server
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties (except as described above for search and ads)
• We use Google AdMob for non-personalized ads only, with no user tracking

Permissions

• Location (Always): Required to monitor geofence alarms in the background
• Notifications: Required to alert you when you reach your stop
• Background Audio: Required to play the alarm sound when your phone is locked

Data Storage

All app data (alarms, settings, cached transit stops) is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes all data. You can also clear all data from Settings within the app.

Children's Privacy

R·iving does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
